FKIP Lampung University Held International Conference on Progressive Education (ICOPE 2019)

The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung (FKIP Unila) held ICOPE 2019 with the theme “Education in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0” in Bukit Randu, Bandar Lampung, on Saturday (26/10). This activity was attended by 204 participants as presenters and present keynote speakers from 4 countries, viz

Jocelyn B. Bacasmot, Ph.D. (The University of Mindanao, Philippines)
Dr. Jessie Png Lay Hoon, (National Institute of Education, Singapore)
Prof. Dr. Agus Suyatna, M.Pd., (FKIP Universitas Lampung, Indonesia)

This activity is the first ICOPE organized by the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung, Indonesia. ICOPE invites researchers, academics, educators, practitioners, government officials, and consultants to attend and share insights, perspectives, and the latest trends in research in education, in addition to this activity is also divided into various scopes and can be seen traced through the website, iCope. fkip.unila.ac.id

The event was attended by the Governor of Lampung represented by the head of the Lampung Research and Development Agency, in addition to the University Chancellor who was represented by the Vice Chancellor in the academic field Prof. Dr. Bujang Rahman, M.Sc., Head of Tourism Office, Head of Marketing of the Tourism Office, Head Bappeda, Head of Vocational School, Vice Chancellor in general and finance, Dean of FKIP Unila and his staff, Postgraduate Director and the Deans of the University of Lampung.

Dean of Faculty of Law Unila, Prof. Dr. Patuan Raja, M.Pd, reported that the sub-themes paper included were:
43 papers Science and Science Education, 45 papers Technology and Learning Innovation
Environmental Education
40 papers Social and Humanities Education
36 papers Education Management
16 papers Primary Education
8 papers Professional Development Teacher
8 papers Curriculum and Instruction
5 papers Assessment and Evaluation.

He also said that, speakers came from various regions in Indonesia,
“May Allah give guidance to us so that we can meet again ICOPE next year,” he said when closing his remarks.
Prof. Dr. Bujang Rahman, M.Sc., in his remarks began with introducing a greeting typical of the Lampung area namely “Tabik pun” to all ICOPE participants. According to him the theme of the International Conference was very interesting because it talked about the current situation, namely the industrial revolution 4.0. There are 2 things in the context of the industrial revolution 4.0 namely the first education can create quality human resources, then the second in order to maintain identity as a human being. Bujang revealed “happiness lies not in technology but in humanity, technology depends on us using it,” he said at the end of his speech.

The governor of Lampung was represented by the head of the research and development agency Prov. Lampung Hamartoni Ahadis, at the same time opening the event today symbolically with the beating of a gong, he conveyed that in addition to the education sector, the province of Lampung has tremendous potential and its geographical location is a strong attraction for the development of tourism in Lampung.

Vice Dean for Academic and Cooperation FKIP Unila, Dr. Sunyono, M.Sc., stated that the International Conference was an activity that could bridge the lecturers, teachers, and students in international publications with a Scopus index (Red). ICOPE has successfully presented more than 200 presenters this time.
He also said that the International Conference had been successfully implemented this time, so that in the future FKIP would hold an International Conference every year, and in 2020 FKIP would hold two International Conferences.
The chair of the ICOPE 2019, Mahpul, MA, P.hD., added that the technical activities of the International Conference were held for two days (26-27), the first day was used for seminar and parallel sessions, then the second day was parallel. He also explained, “Hopefully the next International Conference will run better”.
