Brief History

Undergraduate Programme of Mathematics Education FKIP Unila is one of the Study Programs under the Department of Mathematics and Science Education. The mathematics education study program is part of the University of Lampung which was previously the Tanjungkarang branch of IKIP Jakarta, based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 1968. At that time, the University of Lampung held a diploma program and consisted of 2 (two) faculties, namely the Teaching Faculty (FK) and the Faculty of Education (FIP). The Teaching Faculty consisted of departments of Civic Legal Education, Corporate Economics Education, History Education, Indonesian Language Education, Geography Education, and Mathematics Education. Since 1979, the undergraduate program of mathematics education (UPME) has been established under the auspices of the teaching faculty. Based on Government Regulation Number 5 of 1980 with Presidential Decree Number 43/M/1982, the Teaching Faculty (FK) and the Faculty of Education (FIP) were merged into one faculty, named the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung (FKIP University of Lampung) with UPME as one of the study programs under its auspices. For more than 40 years, UPME has an important role in improving the quality of mathematics education in Indonesia.
